“There's a sunrise and a sunset every single day, and they're absolutely free. Don't miss so many of them.” ~ Jo Walton, author
Our plan to fly home the day after Christmas was delayed to a snowstorm, today the worries were of overcast clouds and icing. However, the skies soon cleared to a bright blue in Pontiac and we flew away from seven inches of snow. At 7,500 feet we were above an overcast cloud layer and enjoyed a magnificent sunset and a bright moon prior to an instrument approach to descend and land. I'm not going to go into the small details of the flight and let the beauty of the video and pictures speak for themselves.

Nice! And I like the video. I do not often think that videos are superior to a well-composed still photograph, but in this case, you've captured a beautiful moment (the music selection is a nice touch).
ReplyDeleteI agree, Chris! I usually prefer photos as well and only capture video if it's a significant flight. However, the way we were slicing through those clouds I found memorizing and the video turned out pretty good!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Geoff! Wish I were back up there again!
ReplyDeleteWatching that video may have been the final convincing I need to go and get my instrument rating. Thanks for sharing your video!
ReplyDeleteAw! Glad you may be convinced! An instrument rating is so helpful and was actually my favorite! Although I am in need of an IPC, I feel much more confident when I fly with that additional training in my pocket!
ReplyDeleteLove it! Reminds me of a way-worse-quality video I took a few years ago on an airline flight... there's just nothing like slicing through a flat overcast layer on your descent towards the airport. Truly one of my favorite things about flight, along with flying past some big, puffy cumulus.
